TRIP DESCRIPTION
This 9-day journey from Marrakech is Morocco at its most varied — a circular tour that takes you from the red city into the desert, along a lush river valley, down to the Atlantic coast, and back again through one of the world’s most atmospheric cities.
The adventure begins in Marrakech before the road climbs over the High Atlas Mountains to Aït Benhaddou — the iconic UNESCO-listed kasbah whose towers of red earth seem to grow organically from the landscape itself. From there, the route heads east through the Valley of Roses and the dramatic Todra and Dades Gorges before a 4×4 transfer into the Sahara at Merzouga, where camels carry you into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset for a night under the stars.
The return west takes an unexpected and rewarding route through the lush Drâa Valley — a ribbon of green palms and ancient kasbahs fed by Morocco’s longest river — before heading south to Taroudant and the saffron fields of Taliouine. The Atlantic coast opens up at Agadir, with a final leg north to Essaouira, the wind-swept UNESCO-listed port city of blue fishing boats and 18th-century ramparts. A quad bike excursion across the coastal dunes closes the seaside chapter before the road turns back inland to Marrakech for a full final day of exploration.
